11th Action for Boston Community Development

October 14, 2011

Here’s some of what’s on the Action for Boston Community Development

website.  I highlighted the word “innovative.”

I'm assuming I don't need to highlight much else, such as "October 27th,"

"Seaport World Trade Center," "Hoop Dreams," "Boston Celtics Head

Coach Doc Rivers," "Boston Globe Sports Columnist Bob Ryan," "John

Wentzell from the DNC and Garden Neighborhood Charities, the

charitable organization of the TD Garden...."

The website for "ABCD" is horrible, once you really look at it.  There's a

lot I could say about it.  I'm going to put one more thing after those

first 2 excerpts, from the website, and then one more discussion of what I

found doing searches on something from the website.

Join Us on October 27th at the Seaport World Trade Center to Launch the ABCD 50th Anniversary Year Gala Celebration and to Honor Our Community Heroes!!

The 37th Annual Community Awards Dinner is a night for all of us to join together to honor those who give so unselfishly of themselves for the betterment of their neighborhoods. For 50 years, ABCD has pursued the mission of upward mobility for hundreds of thousands of Greater Boston residents through innovative, quality programs and services.

Each year, ABCD honors those community leaders whose inspirational deeds help to build a better Boston. These are men and women who volunteer with children and older people, who attend community meetings and provide critical input on important neighborhood issues. These volunteers are the heart and soul of life in Boston's neighborhoods. They make this city work.

Please join us in celebrating our 2011 Community Awards Dinner on October 27th!

For general information, sponsorship opportunities and to purchase tickets, please call Pamela Nedbalek at (617) 348-6238 or email her at pamela.nedbalek@bostonabcd.org.

Hoop Dreams a Success!

Thank you to all of our sponsors, donors and players for supporting us and participating in ABCD's inaugural Hoop Dreams event. A special thank you goes out to our hosts, Boston Celtics Head Coach Doc Rivers, Boston Globe sports columnist Bob Ryan, John Wentzell from the DNC and Garden Neighborhood Charities, the charitable organization of the TD Garden.

The evening was a wonderful success, and we are thrilled to announce that Hoop Dreams will be an annual event!

Approximately $100,000 was raised for ABCD and the Urban College of Boston. It is because of the generosity of friends like you that we at ABCD are able to continue our mission in these difficult economic times. Your donation will help keep Boston's most vulnerable families warm, fed and safely housed-but it will also help them move toward self-sufficiency and a better life.

See you next year!
